Memorandum of understanding between Dire Dawa University and Ethiopian Women Entrepreneur Asso- ciation (EWEA) was signed on January 23, 2015 in a ceremony held at Samrat Hotel. The agreement was signed between Dr. Girma Goro, Dire Dawa University President and W/ro Engidaye Eshete, EWEA President.
The purpose of the agreement was in order to create an opportunity of mutual work and bolster mutual partnership. According to Wro Engidaye Eshete, ‘In the history of the country, this agreement has put DDU to be the first university that has expressed willingness to sign agreement and give community service for the Association’. Dr. Girma Goro, Dire Dawa University President, in his part said that, ‘The University has been giving different community service to the community based on the strategy and mission that the country has given to the University’. In this regard, he said, ‘he would be very pleased to see DDU be the first university to make agreement with Ethiopian Women Entrepreneur Association’.
The President, at last thanked the Association to invite the University for the partnership. The agreement was made following a three day awareness creation training that was given for the four regions (Jigjiga, Harar, Somali and Afar) women entrepreneur association representatives that had focused on the area of leadership, entrepreneurship, time management etc by the DDU CrossCutting Officer, W/ro Selamawit Hailu. The training was prepared by the Ethiopian Women Entrepreneur Association in collaboration with Ministry of Industry.
